چکیده

In 11 dogs, experimentally infected with Trichuris vulpis, the course of localization of larvae and sexually mature parasites during the different stages of their development in hosts as well as the induced histopathological changes in small and large intestine were monitored. It was found out that up to the 15 day after the infection, T. vulpis larvae developed into small intestinal mucosa and were localized over lamina muscularis mucosae. Afterwards, the larvae reached their sexual maturity in the caecum and the colon. A penetration of the anterior thin part of the parasite into caecal submucosa was observed only in a very heavy infection. Histopathological changes were observed during all stages of parasite’s development.

Trichuris vulpis (Froelich, 1789) Infection in a Child: A Case Report

We present a human infection with the canine whipworm, Trichuris vulpis, in a child suffering from rhinitis with a diagnosis of rhinitis. T. vulpis eggs resemble those of T. trichiura but they can be differentiated based on their morphological features and egg size, using micrometry with an ocular micrometer. T. vulpis eggs measured an average of 90 µm by 44 µm (range 86-99 µm by 38-47 µm). Pre...

First report of Eucoleus boehmi (syn. Capillaria boehmi) in dogs in north-western Italy, with scanning electron microscopy of the eggs

Dogs can be infected by several nematodes of the Trichuridae family. Trichuridae eggs are all similar, barrel shaped with polar plugs, and misdiagnosis among different species can occur. The most common species is Trichuris vulpis, while the respiratory parasites Eucoleus boehmi (syn. Capillaria boehmi) and Eucoleus aerophilus (syn. Capillaria aerophila) are rarely observed in pets. E. boehmi i...

In vitro ovicidal activity of the nematophagous fungi Duddingtonia flagrans, Monacrosporium thaumasium and Pochonia chlamydosporia on Trichuris vulpis eggs.

The in vitro effect of four isolates of the nematophagous fungi Duddingtonia flagrans (AC001), Monacrosporium thaumasium (NF34a) and Pochonia chlamydosporia (VC1 and VC4) on the eggs of Trichuris vulpis was evaluated. One thousand eggs of T. vulpis were plated on Petri dishes with 2% water-agar with the fungal isolates grown and without fungus as control. After 7, 14 and 21 days 100 eggs were r...

Prevalence of Gastrointestinal Parasites and Dirofilaria Spp. in Stray Dogs from Some Regions in Bulgaria

During the summer seasons of two consequent years (2013–2014), 80 faecal samples from dogs in stray shelters of two Bulgarian districts (Sofia, n=40 and Pleven, n=40) were examined for infection with gastrointestinal parasites. The flotation-centrifugation method using ZnCl2 solution was used for parasitological examination of the samples. Thirty-three blood samples from dogs in one stray shelt...
